The invitation came, the venue is somewhere with Spanish moss and a June date, and now you're sitting there thinking you need one dress for one Saturday. So you booked a styling appointment. Totally fair, that's exactly what these appointments are for.
But here's what I want you to know before you walk in: we can absolutely nail the wedding look, and we can also use that same hour to make your regular getting-dressed life a whole lot easier. Two birds, one appointment, and you're already here.
Bring the details you have. Where's the ceremony, what time of day, is it inside with AC or under a tent in the Louisiana humidity? A morning garden wedding and a 6 p.m. reception at a downtown Lafayette venue call for very different fabrics, and I'd rather know before we start pulling pieces.
The dress code line on the invite matters too, even when it's vague. "Cocktail" and "garden party" and "semi-formal" all mean something a little different, and I've translated enough of them to steer you right.
And if you already snagged shoes or a clutch you love, bring those. It's easier to build around what you own than to guess and hope it all coordinates later.
Here's where the appointment quietly earns its keep. A lot of women pick a wedding dress that's gorgeous for that one event and then it lives in the back of the closet after, waiting for the next wedding that may not come for a year.
Nothing wrong with that dress. But when we're choosing, I'm already thinking three steps ahead about where else you'd wear it.
That flowy midi in a print that photographs beautifully? It also works for Sunday brunch after church and a rehearsal dinner and a date night at one of the spots off Chemin Metairie. Same dress, different shoes, different earrings, and suddenly one purchase is pulling real weight in your closet.
Louisiana loves color and so do we, so let's not default to the safe neutral just because it's a wedding. A bright coral, a soft green, a print with movement... those read joyful at a wedding and they play well with pieces you probably already own.
The thing I'll gently flag is when a color is so specific it only works for that one dress. If a shade only pairs with the exact bag and sandals we bought that day, it's harder to fold into the rest of your wardrobe.
A versatile color still lets you be festive. It just also lets you reach for that dress on a random Thursday without a whole styling project attached to it.
The jewelry and the bag you pick for the wedding almost never stay put with just the wedding. Good earrings and a clutch you actually like will show up at a dozen other events long after the couple is back from their honeymoon.
So when we're styling, I'll point you toward pieces that earn their spot in the rotation. Gold hoops that work with the wedding dress and your everyday tee. A clutch in a color that goes with more than one thing.
That's the part that keeps working for you when the wedding is a photo on your phone.
When you come see us at Evelyn Rose Boutique, we start with the event and end somewhere bigger. We'll build the full wedding look, head to toe, so you're not standing in your closet the morning of second-guessing the shoes.
Then, if you're up for it, I'll ask what else is on your calendar this fall. A festival, a game day watch party, a birthday dinner in Youngsville... because half the time the pieces we pull for the wedding solve two or three of those without you buying anything extra.
You don't have to say yes to all of it. But you're already here, already trying things on, already have my full attention, so we might as well make the hour count.
A few things make the appointment smoother, and none of them are homework.
If you show up with none of that, we're still fine. I've styled plenty of women who walked in with "it's a wedding in October, help." We figure it out together.
You came in for one Saturday, and you'll leave with that Saturday completely handled. That's the promise and we keep it.
What I hope you also leave with is a couple of pieces that feel like you, that mix with what's already in your closet, and that make the next event easier before you even know what it is. The wedding got you in the door. Getting dressed for everything after is where the real fun starts, sis.
